Kali Lynch - Thin Red Line

Thin red line was the war movie I liked the best from class. It had an interesting plot, was not too hard to follow, and had an o-k ending. I enjoyed this movie but was also really disturbed by the man that was in charge. I forgot his name, but he was the man who was mostly in charge of the whole squad and got in the argument with the soldier over the phone in the middle of battle. I thought he was an excellent example of a tyrant, a prideful person, and someone that is only in it for himself.

I think the soldier who was in the argument with him on the phone was courageous and an example of what speaking your mind is. So many people now a days are afraid to offend or hurt someones feelings, and afraid of sticking up to people who are just not nice. I think he was a great example of sticking up for yourself and others in a respectful manner while getting the point across at the same time.

Eventually there was redemption in this movie, besides all of the dying. It was interesting for the to be redemption, especially in a movie about war. Eventually, they got out of the bad patch they were in and were some what successful. I thought this movie was also a good representation or culture and nature coming together. When Private Whitt decides to stay with the village finds, it is an awesome example of culture and nature colliding. He is an outsider but is welcomed by the villagers and is not turned away. This is an example of nature and culture colliding and intertwining and even evolving a bit.

It seems like nature is such an inviting place for war. Why is that?
