Kali Lynch - Out of a Far Country
Out of a Far Country was a book I read over this past summer. I read this book on the beach. It took me two days. It was incredible. Its all a true story.
This was a book about a man named Christopher who grew up in a household with parents that weren't super loving, on the verge of divorce, and wanted nothing but success for their son. Christopher was the only thing holding them together as a family. Eventually he moved out to college and came out as gay. they were devastated. This put a huge strain on their marriage and it got so bad that they stopped talking to each other for years. His mom, Angela, fell into depression and decided there was nothing else to live for so she decided one day when she woke up that she was going to take her own life, but failed because she walked into the doors of a church instead.
funny how those things happen.
Eventually, Angela meets the Lord and becomes devoted to him. He and her husbands marriage is redeemed and even her husband starts following Jesus. They become devout Christians.
Meanwhile, Christopher is freshly graduated from college, working for a high up company, dating hot men, and going out all the time. He thinks he is living the life. Back in college he started doing drugs and it stuck with him. Christopher would continue to do drugs until he was an adult and eventually was a dealer, until he was working for one of the biggest ecstasy dealers in the country. He was in it deep.
This book is about redemption, and the way God works in the most unfortunate circumstances. Christopher was caught, went to prison, and then met the Lord in prison because his mom continued to pursue him and love him and fight for him.
Christopher is now a professor at Moody bible institute.
This book is about redemption.
