Kali Lynch - Donny Darko

Donny Darko was so weird!! Wow. This was such a weird movie, but I also loved it. I was terrified of Frank the first couple times he appeared.. well no I am still terrified. But, he got less and less scary.

This movie made me think and got my brain all twisted and kind of confused. I thought that the way they projected an 80's film in the early 200's was done so well. It was really believable and it took me a second to realize it was not actually made in the 80's until I did the math on how old Jake G. actually was.

One of the most interesting things about this movie, to me, was the way they portrayed Donny. There was nothing scary about him from the outside, yet people were so weirded out by him and treated him so differently because of the way he acted, which was not his fault, and it was due to his mental health. I thought they did a great job in this movie with the fact that he had mental health issues since that was a bit taboo during the time period this movie was suppose to be made in.

Another thing I thought was interesting was the bit the Patrick Swayze did on fear and love. Honestly, I thought everything he was saying was true. It was interesting though, that Danny had a hard time going along with it and really did not believe it at all. It was then revealed by his therapist that he was a paranoid schizophrenia which sort of revealed his feelings toward the fear and love bit.

I overall really liked this movie and thought it was done well. One question I had after watching this movie was did the people in his life that he saved have any recollection of him?
