Annihilation
I thought the movie was very interesting and left we a little confused and with lots of questions after. In the beginning of the movie I thought that how everything was different and unique or weird even was interesting. Everything seemed unrealistic or even impossible because they differed so much from one another. Like the flowers for example, coming from the same stem but each flower is different. Which is impossible it would seem. I connected this with parts of the film we watched earlier in the semester, Harold and Maude. I remember the scene where Harold and Maude were sitting in the field of flowers when Maude asked Harold which flower he would be and he replied "I don't know, they're all the same". Which is followed by Maude showing Harold that although they may look the same from far away, up close each flower is different in every way showing the uniqueness of each one. I think the applies to Annihilation because it was trying to show the uniqueness of all things or humans. Going back to the flowers from the same stem but completely different, I think this is a further connection to show you that everyone and everything is unique. To explain this I will use a mother with multiple children as an example of this. All the children came from her and the same father, but each is completely unique just like the flowers. Even with twins everyone has their own different personality and no two people are alike. I think this was the message that the flowers were showing and it really spoke to me. Having said all that I really enjoyed the movie overall and want to see it again to possibly answer some of the questions it left me with eh first time.
